Thank you so much to everyone who has been volunteering to help those in need around the Parish. We’ve been amazed by the huge effort of the community to ensure everyone is OK.

It’s very important that anyone volunteering is also following the strict guidelines as to who can help on street level (i.e. out and about collecting groceries and prescriptions etc) and how you can do this…

You should ONLY leave the house for one of four reasons, and one of these is to provide care or to help a vulnerable person.

Even when you are doing this, you need to do so safely:

You should be minimising time spent outside of the home and ensuring you are 2 metres (6 feet) apart from anyone outside of your household and please make sure you are washing your hands regularly, particularly after picking up groceries from the stores.

Please note: You can ONLY provide support to people who are in isolation if you fulfil ALL of the conditions below:

  1. You are well and have no symptoms like a cough or high temperature and nobody in your household does
  2. You are under 70
  3. You are not pregnant
  4. You do not have any long-term health conditions that make you vulnerable to coronavirus.

The guidelines are here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-how-to-help-safely–2/coronavirus-how-to-help-safely

If you fall outside of these conditions, then you can still help by calling neighbours and friends who may be lonely or email us or join the volunteer Facebook Group (link HERE) and if there is any need for phone helpers to take orders or requests for help, we can get in touch with you.

You can also join the army of NHS volunteer responders – sign up form here.

In the meantime, please all make sure you are continuing to ensure you and your family are safe and adhering to the Stay Home rules.

Keep well. Stay Home. Be kind and support local business.
