It is with the greatest sadness that Limpsfield Parish Council heard of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Our thoughts and prayers are with The King and The Royal Family at this time.

Book of Condolence

An online book of condolence will be available at royal.uk.

There are also books of condolence at:

  • St Peter’s Church, High Street, Limpsfield.
  • St Mary’s Church, Church Lane, Oxted.

St Peter’s and St Andrew’s will be open from Friday 9 September.

The churches will remain open all of next week for people to sign the condolence book, pray or just sit for quiet reflection.

Please note that there are church events on Saturday 10 September afternoon and after the service on Sunday, so you are encouraged to sign the book either today, Friday 9 September or next week.

Funeral

The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September, 11am.

This day will be an official Bank Holiday, however there is no directive for closure of business so please check with individual businesses as to whether they are respectfully open or not. Some may decide to close as a mark of respect and to allow staff to pay their respects; others may decide it is appropriate to be open and continue serving the community on this day.

Marking the silence

There will be a minute’s silence at 8pm on Sunday 18th September. We would ask you all to please observe this wherever you are.

A national two-minute silence will be observed at 11am on the day of the funeral.

Flags

The Union Flag at Memorial Stores and St Peters will be flying according to the Royal Protocol: half mast until the day after the funeral except for Proclamation Day (Saturday 10 September) when the flag will be raised to full mast at 1100hrs to coincide with the Reading of the Principal Proclamation. It will continue to fly at full mast until 1300hrs the following day and will then return to half mast until after the funeral.
