It is with the greatest sadness that Limpsfield Parish Council heard of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts and prayers are with King Charles III and The Royal Family at this time.
Book of Condolence
An online book of condolence will be available at royal.uk.
St Peter’s and St Andrew’s will be open from today, Friday 9 September and a Book of Condolence will be available on a table by the door of St Peter’s for any visitors to sign.
The churches will remain open all of next week for people to sign the condolence book, pray or just sit for quiet reflection.
Please note that there are church events on Saturday afternoon and after the service on Sunday, so you are encouraged to sign the book either today, Friday 9 September or next week.
Funeral
The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will take place at Westminster Abbey on a date to be confirmed.
Marking the silence & mourning
A national two-minute silence will be observed at 11am on the day of the funeral.
A Royal Period of Mourning has been announced which will continue until 7 days after the Funeral.
Flags
The Union Flag at Memorial Stores and St Peters will be flying according to the Royal Protocol: half mast until the day after the funeral except for Proclamation Day (TBC) when the flag will be raised to full mast at 1100hrs to coincide with the Reading of the Principal Proclamation. It will continue to fly at full mast until 1300hrs the following day and will then return to half mast until after the funeral.
There will be a gun salute at Hyde Park at 1300 today, Friday 9 September.
